This illustration was done for an article written by Josh Rose about an new type of social networking site called Ning.com. Most social networking sites like, Facebook, LinkindIn and MySpace all center around the individual. Ning.com allows individuals to create social networks around a subject of interest. So instead of a site about Bob Robertson you have sites like: The Rolling Stones, Crazy about Volkswagens, Critique My Paintings, Tennisopolis or The David Hasselhoff Social Network, all under one roof. I wanted the illustration to get at the idea of individuals grouping and then drifting from place to place. From that came photos of dancing muses individually cut out and flowing from dandelion to dandelion. I rarely get an opportunity to get my experimental design in print. It's a nice brake from working on things that have brand standards to adhere to or a logo to make bigger.
